There are 7 Cosmic Principles described by the Rosicrucians that date back to ancient times.
1. The First Principle of Correspondence
This Principles describes the fact that everything in our lives is connected. All external and all internal activities and thoughts are intertwined. All that is above, such as the Divine, is reflected in some way with all that is below, such as humans. The similarities depend on scale and do not mean we are identical, but there is a connection.
We are not alone in this world. This Principles shows us that we are part of something greater. All we have to do is quiet our minds enough to know and feel that strength.
2. The Second Principle of Law and Order
This Principle tells us that everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by chance. There is a cause and effect in this world, and in the universe. Whle we may not always be aware of the cause, we can be assured that some event created the effects in our lives.
Our role is to be aware of all of our actions and be sure we are creating the effects that we desire. If we begin that now, our lives will reflect that effort.
3. The Third Principle of Vibration
This Principle explains that "Everything vibrates." Nothing remains static. Atoms make up evrything and are in constant motion. If that motion is increasd, the state of the object changes. Water heated changes to steam. Water cooled becomes ice. This idea applies to everything. Everything changes. There is an impermanence to life, yet this is not to be feared. The continual change is natural because we all vibrate and are in constant motion.
We are connected to everything, as in the First Principle, in that we all simply consist of different vibrations.
4. The Fourth Principle of Rhythm
Everything beats time, like the swing of the pendulum. Just as the revolution of the earth on its axis and the rotation of the earth around the sun, there is a pattern or rhythm to our lives.
The rhythm implies there is a limit to the movement. Nothing in the universe goes beyond its boundaries. The earth revolves only around its axis, and the earth doesn't venture beyond its defined orbit.
We don't go beyond the pattern of our lives. This does not mean that we do not change, since of course we do. But our lives are like the swing of the pendulum. There is plenty of room for radical swings as we can go from one extreme to the other, but our lives will not go beyond that defined swing.
5. The Fifth Principle of Cycles
Everything proceeds in circles. The rhythm of the fourth Principle is completed, but that rhythm does not continue in a straight line. Forces in the universe act as the pendulum swings from one extreme to another and a circle is formed. Circles are an outgrowth of rhythm. The pendulum swings around a central point. That is true in our lives, in nature, in the universe.
6. The Sixth Principle of Polarity
Everything has its opposite. There is polarity in the world and in the universe. Our challenge is to find the middle ground, the median point, and avoid the extremes. We search for moderation in every emotion, every decision, every activity.
7. The Law of Sex Attraction
Sex attraction governs our lives and the universe. Life is creation. But this is not the "sex" of a limited male/female encounter. Sex attraction unites the masculine and feminine characteristics within us.
